  • by Admin

Smart Source (asi/328914), a Suwanee, GA-based promotional products distributor, has acquired the majority of assets of Kalamazoo, MI-based distributor Superior Business Solutions (asi/339701). Financial terms of the deal were not released. Executives said the acquisition will enable Smart Source to increase market share in the Midwest, as Superior has locations throughout that region. Meanwhile, Superior executives believe the firm will be better positioned to grow sales faster, thanks to what was described as Smart Source's robust sourcing technology that enables optimized customer pricing, as well as other reasons. Going forward, Superior President Bill English will be heading Smart Source's merger and acquisition initiatives - efforts executives expect to be significant. "I am looking forward to helping make Smart Source an even stronger and more resourceful company," said English. "We will be looking for other strategic additions to Smart Source in terms of geography, capabilities and cultural fit." Smart Source CEO Tom D'Agostino Jr. described the deal as "very meaningful for us," adding that in addition to Bill English's M&A role, Superior Vice President Tim English and his team will focus on organically growing business with their accounts. Smart Source is "looking forward to enhancing our combined resources, technology and operational efficiencies, which will benefit our clients," said Chief Operating Officer Sara Horn. Beyond traditional promotional products, Smart Source offers an array of solutions. Those include printed materials, digital solutions, business process outsourcing, direct mail, creative services, and fulfillment management encompassing inventory management, kitting and distribution. The company said it works with both domestic and international customers. Founded in 1924 by Robert English, Superior Business Solutions is a third-generation business that, in addition to promo products, offers document management services and printed materials.
